Making Material Design

Having only switched to from iOS to Android myself a few months ago this is a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at building Google’s visual framework. What’s most inspiring is how their digital user interface was essentially born of folding bits of paper.

Are you ready for Google’s ‘Mobile-friendly’ Update?

Google first announced algorithm changes to affect mobile SEO back in November 2014. They have since provided a few more specifics and have revealed via a blog post that the algorithm update will happen on the 21st April, and will focus on ‘mobile-friendliness’ as a ranking factor.

We Love the Halfbike

We came across an amazing Kickstarter campaign recently that we felt was definitely worth a mention. It’s not often you get a classical object such as the standard bicycle, that you thought could never be changed or improved, and see it reborn as something so stunning.

Photographing Bronze Sculptures

We often receive unusual and interesting requests for design-related projects. This was particularly true when we were approached by the family of the late Benson Landes, an incredibly talented and renowned Cheshire-based bronze sculptor.

Responsive Design Workshop

November saw our very own Alex going back to school. As part of our support for the Knutsford Studio, Alex has offered to run workshops for any students interested in web design and business set-up.

Introducing our (mini) photo studio

This month, we have set up our own mini photo studio into the office and are delighted that can now offer product photography to our clients. We have always enjoyed location shooting and have several sites featuring our own filming and photography. So now it’s nice to be able to shoot our own product photos that we

Simple Conversion Optimisation

Clients often approach us with the same dilemma: “We love our new website but we’re not getting any sales.”  It can sometimes take businesses by surprise when their website just doesn’t work for them in the way that they had hoped, despite it looking the part.  Thankfully, optimising your conversion rates – which basically means

Students Teaching Us a Thing Or Two

As a family business running a busy studio as well as bringing up children, we at Pixel Air, have a vested interest in the community. When the Knutsford Studio got in touch with us towards the end of the summer with their proposal, it just felt like a good thing to do. Asked if we would be interested in offering work experience placements to some of their new GCSE and A-Level students, we jumped at the chance.

Getting the Most from your Web Designer

For most businesses these days, a good website is the most effective marketing tool that they have. It’s usually the first point of call for customers wanting information on products and services as well as contact details. The most effective websites will do a good job in selling you a lifestyle, a dream and make their business incredibly desirable to the user. That’s

Designing in the Browser

A recent Forbes study estimated that almost 80% of internet access is now made via a mobile device rather than a desktop computer. With even more mobile devices entering the market, all with different screen sizes,  it’s more important than ever to ensure your site is built to cater for a mobile audience. Back in January 2013 we went to New Adventures

Google Will Warn When Your Site Is Not Responsive

We wrote an article not so long back about the importance of keeping your site up-to-date with technology and with your user. With more people using mobile phones to access search engines than ever before (set to overtake desktop searches), it seems it is more important than ever to make sure your website is responsive.

Are you Responsive?

You’ve got a great business and you’re the proud owner of a beautiful website. But when it comes to mobile, your site just doesn’t look quite so good. The content doesn’t fit, the images are squashed, the text is illegible. If you’re not happy with the way your site looks from your mobile phone, you can bet your customers aren’t either.

New Pixel Air Website

It’s been a long time coming but we’re finally very pleased to announce the redesign of our very own website! After 7 years we finally had to make our own site a priority and have given it a complete overhaul to bring it in line with what we do for all our clients these days.

Two websites for two venues

This month has been very busy indeed. We’ve had some very exciting and inspirational projects to work on. The first is for Heaton House Farm – a stunning wedding venue in the Cheshire countryside.

Merry Christmas!

It wasn’t just the festive season which made us feel jolly this month – we were also delighted to wrap up the year with the launch of a few new websites, namely – Hargreaves Factory Outlet, a popular frozen food retailer in Manchester, recruitment specialists ADE Group and Heaton House Accomodation – a bespoke wedding venue providing comfortable on-site accomodation.

Chemical Sourcing & English Tuition

October has seen the launch of a new site for Aquababies, a leading baby swim class in the North West. We’ve had a lot of fun putting this together with the use of some fantastic underwater photography to make the site eye-catching and fun!
